First Sentence Fridays – Chapter 3

Woohoo, it’s Friday once again!

Be sure to read the entire post (if on Facebook, for example) for a chance to win one of my backlist books!

Sometimes during research I’ll come across some small tidbit of information that unexpectedly helps bring a particular part of the storyline together. For The Saints of Swallow Hill, it was this rather typical, and somewhat innocuous bit of farm equipment – a grain bin. It looks fairly innocent, doesn’t it?

After Del starts working for Moe Sutton on his large farm down in Clinch County, Georgia, he finds himself on the wrong side of his boss man. He’s assigned to work with the grain bins because of this, along with two other men. This job will not only alter his current view on life, it becomes a moment when things take an unexpected turn.

The name of the manufacturer of this grain bin, Butler, will also end up being used in a rather unusual, but historic way by Del. Intrigued yet? 🙂

Chapter 3

Del didn’t know Moe climbed the ladder and stared into the grain bin where nothing but corn could be seen.

This week I’m giving away a signed copy of one of my backlist novels. Will you be the lucky reader to win your choice of either a copy of The Road to Bittersweet, The Forgiving Kind, or The Moonshiner’s Daughter? (whichever one you haven’t read)

    1. 🙂 I don’t know if you recall – you read so much, probably not – but the first sentence of Chp 2 a week ago is one you would have seen before. One day on your FB page, you asked what the first sentence was of a book people were reading, or of a book authors were working on – and at the time, my Chp 2 Sentence (Rae Lynn) was my Chp 1. I ended up switching it with the Del chp. 😉

  1. I can not wait for the release day. I love all of your books! Thanks for sharing a little bit with us readers weekly and for the giveaway.
