Hey, hey, it’s Friday and you know what that means! It’s time for another first sentence!
Here’s a question for you – what keeps you up at night? Are you one of the many sleep deprived individuals we hear about all the time? (my husband is for sure!) Many suffer from an inability to relax and let the day go. Despite the latest in over the counter sleep-aids, for some, nothing helps.
Then, there are those who can sleep through a hurricane. (points to self) However, I can recall on occasion experiencing the misery of tossing and turning for one reason or another. One of those times was when I was going through treatment for cancer. There’s nothing quite like a radiation burn, so really there wasn’t much tossing and turning. You can imagine how I only wanted it to be morning.
In this opening sentence we find Rae Lynn trying to cope with her injured husband, Warren, who made a bad/careless decision as he is prone to do. It involved a storm, a leaking roof, and a ladder. Combine that with a good dose of stubbornness, and you have the perfect setup for disaster.

Chapter 6
Rae Lynn
Pain riddled, agitated and morose, Warren kept moving around in the bed to the point neither one of them slept much.
