First Sentence Fridays – Chapter 8

Happy Friday, and happy July 4th weekend, y’all!

Honestly, I feel like everyone is going buck wild now that the country is getting back to normal, and that’s GREAT. At this point, I think everyone needs to enjoy the holiday weekend no matter where you decide to celebrate, backyard, beach, mountains, or elsewhere.

Let’s have a spoiler free conversation about this week’s sentence. Last week I mentioned Rae Lynn was forced to make a very difficult decision. It’s one I wouldn’t wish on anyone, and the circumstances surrounding it are terrible and tragic. It’s quite possible, I wouldn’t have the wherewithal to do what she did. This is one reason I love writing. I can have characters do the things I might not be brave enough to do.

At any rate, Rae Lynn has a lot of strength and fortitude. She did what she had to do, and that would have been that, except for one other problem. Butch Crandall.

Butch turned a skeptical eye on her and said, “It’s your word against mine.”
