Now on to this week’s sentence for THE MOONSHINER’S DAUGHTER! (December 31, 2019, Kensington)
***************
Jessie is mostly a loner. She has a friend, Aubrey, a preacher’s daughter, but Aubrey is self-centered and the relationship becomes strained because of Aubrey’s interest in a particular individual. Fortunately there is a woman, the elderly school nurse, who notices Jessie’s struggles, even when Jessie can’t seem to see them for herself. Mrs. Louise Brewer is an old mountain woman, what some may have called a “granny woman.” She’s a certified nurse, but she also knows a lot about herbal remedies – among other things.
While Jessie isn’t keen on having “help,” Mrs. Brewer is a force of nature, and her no-nonsense attitude has Jessie backing down. Jessie doesn’t yet believe what Mrs. Brewer is trying to tell her . . . “You got a monster in you thinks it’s the boss. You got to show that it ain’t.”
Chapter 16
She was an old woman with bad eyes.

Mrs. Brewer lives and breathes right now in Wilkes County. I won’t name names. Take my word for it. In fact, she has like-minded sisters.

“Granny Woman” sounds like she is very aware of whatever Aubrey is dealing with. Sometimes a person doesn’t have to have good eyes to see what is going on. I would love to read and review.
