Updates from Donna!

Hello, readers!

I’m dropping by to share a bit of news and a few event photos.

First though, the cold weather continues here in North Carolina. Today’s high in Dunn is will reach 40 (better than the mid 20s like last weekend!) but with the wind, it feels like it’s in the teens/20s. I took the “girls” for their walk this morning (with their pink jackets!) and my device said “34, windy, feels like 20.” Yep.

I always have that Queen song in my head when I watch them walk. “We are the champions, we are the champions! We are the champions  . . . of the woooooorrrrrllllld!” 😂 💗

As you know, Women of a Promiscuous Nature launched about 2 weeks ago. For some this will be old news, but for those who might have missed it, here are a few photos from launch week:

With Kathy Godfrey, Raleigh Women’s Club historian, my in-conversation partner at Quail Ridge Books. (we did NOT plan our outfits!)
Signing stock at Quail Ridge

Following the book launch at Quail Ridge, I headed to Southern Pines the following morning for an event at Weymouth Ctr. for Arts and Humanities with The Country Bookshop owner, Kimberly Daniels Taws as my in-conversation partner.

Introductions at Weymouth
At Weymouth with long time blog follower Angela – sneaking bites of COOKIE while I worked. (haha)
Thank you, Angela, for capturing this!

Then I was off to Pawleys Island on Friday, to do an event with Litchfield Books at the lovely Pine Lakes Country Club.

Litchfield Books Pawleys Island Event (hopefully this will play for you – it’s only 9 secs, but shows as a pretty big file so it might not)

And here are just some random shots at these events! Great memories.

At Pine Lakes CC NMB, SC with readers
Signing books at Page 158! (we had to move that event to Jan 22nd – b/c of ICE!)
Reading at Quail Ridge event

with the Raleigh Banbury book club (as I call them!)
Sue Lucey, owner of Page 158 and me – and NO idea what we were laughing at!
With long time writer friends at the Page 158 event!
And finally, last night in Mt. Airy, at Pages Books Coffee bookstore event with reader Barbara Laster Luffman.

In other news, Women of a Promiscuous Nature was an Independent Press Bestseller (#16 out of a list of 40) and a Southern Independent Bookseller Association bestseller, coming in at #9 out of 15.

I hope everyone is staying safe and warm! Spring is on the way, I’m sure of it. Until then, hunker down and read books!

  1. Lovely updates and you’re welcome. The video from Pawley’s played for me; pretty ballroom-reception room. The wooden floors look original. Your Yorkies are adorable champions. I had one named Romeo.

    1. They are THE BEST little dogs. These are #4 and #5 for me.

I imagine those floors are original. The place is on the historic register, and is nicknamed The Granddaddy. I’ve been several times for my events – one of my very favorite places to visit.
