The moment has arrived…and the wonderful folks over at Deep South Magazine agreed to do the cover reveal for THE ROAD TO BITTERSWEET!
View the cover, plus what I had to say about it here.
And then, be sure to let me know what you think via the comments!
I absolutely adore the cover! It tells such a story!! I’m so excited about this book, and I’m sure it will be another winner!!
Thank you Susan, you’re channeling my own emotions! When I saw this cover, my mouth dropped. I put my hand over my heart b/c it was POUNDING. Loved it from the moment I saw it! I’m excited about it too – and hope it will resonate with readers! Thank you for being such a staunch supporter of my work!
can not wait
Another great cover, Donna. Your genre is not my usual go-to for reading, but I have to say, I’m intrigued. I think it’s partly because of how good DIXIE was that I’m interested to read BITTERSWEET. This is not a culture or an environment with which I’m all that familiar (I’ve been to the mountains, but they’ve never been my home), but I know you’ll be the perfect guide and tell an awesome story. Look at that! You’ve built reader trust already! 🙂
Thank you, Colin! I wonder how you’d sound reading this one out loud…(hmmm, as she goes off to think about that British accent saying “it don’t matter none.” Somehow it would sound proper!) That said, I introduce “buck dancing” or “flat footing” in this story. I’m going to do a blog post about it at some point, and have this video I hope I can share (not sure it will work, or that I can), but either way – this is a very different story, but one I hope EVERY one (yes you!) will enjoy!
What a SUPER AMAZING cover (!!!), Donna! I’m so delighted for you, and I can’t wait to hold this book in my hands!!! <3 <3 <3
Thank you Lilac, they’ve outdone themselves again, right? Publication seems like a long ways away, but it’ll be here before we know it!
This is so beautiful, Donna. Congratulations! I can’t wait to read it.
Oh man, I commented on the Deep South blog. Sheesh, I was never good at following directions.
Another chance, another chance.
Okay, here goes. Way cool on the cover. I hear these stories of authors loathing the covers for their books and you must’ve figured out how to coax the right people or provide some nice incentive because this is two cool covers in a row. And I’m not making that up. What I particularly like about this is that it’s got a hint of Dixie Dupree in it (so, BRAND!) and yet it stands on its own. What a great combo. How big is your head these days? I only ask because I can’t see it up in those clouds.
Actually, that would’ve been fine! I love getting more eyes on Deep South Magazine b/c they (of course) write about the stuff I love and I want EVERYBODY to love all things southern. 🙂
I’ve heard the same thing too about covers – and what’s going on with mine, I have no influence on how well they’re turning out. Well, I take that, back — my editor has asked me for ideas – and I always send them a Pinterest board (building one now for the next project) and I think that gives them ideas, but all in all, they do their thing and it comes out like…THIS! Woohoo!
I think what I love most is, if I were Jane Doe reader, this is exactly the sort of cover I’d be drawn to – I love coming of age stories for one, it screams southern, my next favorite genre, and it’s just plain eye catching.
I’m glad you like it – I realize the genre you write is very different, so for you to give it a thumbs up – yay!
