Do Over on Lots Of News!

Don’t you just love do overs?  Although I provided a “correction” to what I’d talked about in my post yesterday with regard to all the news related to my books, I realized some would have only read the original post.  While my news isn’t all that important, I did want to be sure anyone who took the time to read the first go round, didn’t miss out on what was really happening.

That said, here’s a repeat also called an updated version, also called a do over, and the correction is in blue:

My word, y’all.  There has been so much pouring in, I figured I better do a post just to make sure I’m able to keep track of it myself!  Some of this will be a repeat for a few of you, but hey, good news is worth repeating, amIright?

First off, as many of you already know, THE EDUCATION OF DIXIE DUPREE is long listed for the Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance (SIBA) 2017  Southern Book Prize.  I am in the company of some astonishing talent.  There are still many days to go, but I am very honored and proud for my debut to be considered.

Second, while I was celebrating that with some of you on Facebook, I found out other great newsTHE ROAD TO BITTERSWEET is a 2018 SIBA Trio Book pick!  The talented, and brilliant Shari Smith dropped that wonderful little comment into the thread, sort of like, here ya go, have a slice of thrilling news.

Well, there’s more to it than that – short version here – but ya know me, my heart started flopping around, and no amount of deep breathing, or hand flapping helped.  I have recovered sufficiently now to share this link so you can go and check it out, but essentially, a songwriter, and an artist are chosen who read the book and then create a song and art work to go along it.  This is added into an exhibit with other books for that year – 2018 for THE ROAD TO BITTERSWEET – then, the exhibit travels to book stores, festivals, and other venues interested in having it.

More details to come, I’m sure, but that’s what I know now.  HOW COOL IS THAT?

Third, was the news about THE ROAD TO BITTERSWEET also being a Publisher’s Lunch Buzz Book for Fall/Winter 2017-2018 which I already shared in this post.

And last!  I wanted to let everyone know THE ROAD TO BITTERSWEET is ALSO now available for pre-order on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and BAM if you want to order – ya know, like WAY ahead of schedule.  🙂

(Note: I’m working on getting the buy links updated on my site)

Release date is December 26, 2017, official publication, January 2, 2018.

I think that’s it!

Phew!

  1. I’m a have to swing through North Carolina with my autographin’ pen one a these days and catch up with you. Now I’m gonna have two books for you to sign. Keep this up and you’ll catch a good case of writer’s cramp. Best soreness I can imagine.

    1. Wouldn’t that be great??? You coming this way, not writer’s cramp – although – like you said, best soreness there is.

Anywhoo – it was wonderful meeting Colin and QOTKU. It’d be great to swing through your neck of the woods too – but my travels tend to keep me in the south. Well, here I am at 5:44 a.m. and the goal is to be working on increasing the writer’s cramp, so off I go. In all seriousness, thanks John, your support has meant alot!

  2. Donna, Congrats and much applause on your awards! I’m a new fan and reading The Education of Dixie Dupree right now! I’m loving it! I’ll be sure to pick up The Road to Bittersweet! It sounds like a keeper too! Thank you for writing wonderful stories! I’m passing my books onto my daughters as I get done with them. I know they’ll be fighting over Dixie!!! Many hugs and much admiration!

    Be blessed,

    Christy Davis

    1. Hi Christy – nice to e-meet you! Thank you for the congrats and thank you for reading my book – ha! Soon to be bookS! Yay!

The stories are quite different – the only similarities are they’re set in the south, and have a young lead character, but that’s a good thing. I know when I’m reading I’m all over the place with what I like, but there are certain elements that say the same, i.e. southern in nature, love coming of age, and love to see the characters being put through more than they think they can stand.

Thank you also for reaching out – I love to meet new fans! Take care! Donna E.
