First Sentence Fridays and FREE BOOK Friday!

Hello everyone! It’s Friday and Labor Day weekend!

This week I get to introduce you to a new character – Cornelia Stokes. She might have looked a little like this woman:

Cornelia works in the camp commissary alongside her abusive, self-centered, and let’s face it, idiotic husband. His name is Otis. She is a compassionate and caring individual, even though suppressed by her husband. No matter the character, good or bad, I love creating them.

Back in the days of turpentine camps, and hundreds of years before, turpentine was used for EVERYTHING. It truly was considered a cure-all.

At the bottom of this old ad, the author clarified and said, “Not magic, just good old turpentine.”

When one of the workers is injured, the first thing Del Reese does is take him to Cornelia. He’s already noticed the good in her, even if her nasty tempered husband can’t – or won’t.

Cornelia administered turpentine to Birdie’s bite by pouring it over the puncture marks.

  1. In my TBR pile are The Collector’s Daughter by Gill Paul, The Stolen Marriage by Diane Chamberlain and The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates by Wes Moore. That’s my plan. However, there’s a new Wiley Cash book coming out on the 21st and I’m anxious to read it. I’m sure When Ghosts Come Home will sneak its way into my stack sometime!

  2. The Last House on the Street by Diane Chamberlain
When Ghosts Come Home by Wiley Cash
The Last Green Valley by Mark Sullivan

  3. Runner by Tracy Clark, Dollar Brides by Anne Greene , Winter Witness by Tina Tersigni de Bellegarda. Have a great weekend and stay safe.

    1. I’m reading ARC of The Last House on the Street by Diane Chamberlain, then Kill All Your Darlings by David Bell, and A Million Reasons Why by Jessica Strawser. Almost finished with The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah.
I’ve been sick and haven’t been reading as much as I usually do. So I’m behind in finishing up on a few things.
