If you read no other book by her, read I KNOW WHY THE CAGED BIRD SINGS, but seriously, read all you can… such a talent.  Sad she’s gone.

    1. I imagine there’s a lifetime of quotes from her, don’t you?

I love this – it was in the paper this morning. (and of course she received some of her education and taught at universities here in my home state, so there’s a big article on her)

Come you death, in haste, do come
My shroud of black be weaving,
Quiet my heart, be deathly quiet,
      My true love is leaving.

      1. I think so. I have her cookbook too, THE HALLELUJAH TABLE. Vignettes of her life with a recipe to go with it. Love it.
